Sorry about the massive changeup out of nowhere. I tried the entire time I was sick to generate a way to bring the spiraling events under control, and couldn't figure out a way to do it without robbing the experience of the game. I even looked into the geist and wraith settings from White Wolf, and had planned a move to the Risen setting from those, but there was an inherent flaw in that.
